Your questions… answered!

Hi there. I’m so glad you have decided to stop by. When investing in family photography, it’s so important to choose a photographer that is right for you. Someone that understands your family and is going to make the process easy and fun! So in order for you to get to know me a bit better, I’ve decided to share this little Q&A.

If you have any further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Q | Why photography?

A | When I was younger, I was always the one at family gatherings snapping away with a camera of some description. Back in the old days, I had a film camera. It was so much fun taking the rolls of film to the chemist to get them developed only to see what I’d captured the weekend before – there were always some doozies!

Just after my 30th birthday, my sister was expecting her first baby. My parents were going to be grandparents for the first time so they offered to buy me a ‘good’ camera for my birthday with the sole purpose of capturing photos of their new granddaughter and that’s where my journey began.

Hundreds (ok, thousands) of photos of my niece later and lots of study and practice, here I am! You can read my full story here.

Q | What is your style of photography?

A | My style is a mix of lifestyle and documentary photography. I capture the raw emotion that exists between families without too much posing, which means you won’t be looking at the camera for most of the time (did I hear you breathe a sigh of relief?!) I’ll provide some direction along the way, but will also be photographing your family during the in-between moments too so I can capture you being real and authentic. The result will be a gorgeous collection of photographs that truly tell your own unique story.

Q | What happens at a session?

A | My aim is to capture precious photographs of you and your family in the most natural un-posed way possible. I’m passionate about telling your story at this very moment in time so I want you to be doing all the fun things you like to do together. The session will include snuggling, laughing, running, jumping, playing, tickling – sounds exhausting, right?! It will most certainly be exhausting for me, but all I need from you is to have FUN and loads of it! I will chat (a lot!) and I will offer direction, but you’ll also have the opportunity to play together without interruption so I can capture beautiful, relaxed images of you and your family.

The session will take anywhere from 45-90 minutes. I have no time limit. It will take as long as it takes so you don’t need to worry about kids (or husbands) misbehaving along the way.

Please note, newborn sessions can take anywhere from 2-4 hours to accommodate for baby’s feeding and sleep times.

Q | When do you schedule your sessions?

A | I work full time in my photography business so I can be flexible in fitting with your availability. I am happy to hold sessions on weekdays or weekends. During daylight savings, I am also more than happy to hold a session on a weeknight after 6pm. The best time of day for outdoor sessions is first thing in the morning or the last couple of hours before sunset. This is when the light is the most beautiful and you’ll get the best photographs. In saying that, I can definitely be flexible around the children’s nap times – nobody wants a cranky face in all the photos! Newborn sessions are best when baby is happiest and I always allow plenty of time for feeding and settling.

Q | Where are photo sessions held?

A | I am extremely passionate about photographing families in their homes because I believe home really is where the heart is so I’d highly recommend this option. However, if you’d prefer another location, that’s completely fine. Aside from home, I’d love for you to choose a location that’s special to you. It might be a favourite café, park or playground. If you’re struggling to come up with a location, I’m more than happy to give you a hand. Please note, newborn sessions always take place in the comfort of your home.

If you need convincing about a session held at your home, just ask. I have all the answers…

Q | What should we wear?

A | The good news is, you don’t have to buy anything new – what you have in your wardrobe will be perfect. I promise. I recommend you choose anything that’s comfortable and makes you feel fabulous! If you’d like some tips, sing out and I’ll send through a link to a Pinterest board.

Q | What are your fees?

A | I believe you should have access to all of your images because it is your story after all. With this in mind, my pricing is simple and all-inclusive. There are no session fees and no choosing your favourite photos. Each package includes the lot – the session and all of the best images delivered in high resolution format for printing at your leisure. You will also receive a beautifully printed and framed photo collage with a selection of images from the session, ready to hang on your wall. You can find all my packages here.

$250 is due at the time of booking to secure your session date and time, with the outstanding amount due after delivery of your online gallery of images.

Q | How long will it take to see my photos?

A | Approximately 3-4 weeks after your session, you’ll be sent a link to a password-protected online gallery of the professionally edited images from your session – usually 60+ images (usually heaps more!) I’d love to get the photos to you quicker, but I do all of the editing myself, as well as being mum to a toddler and three step-children – life is busy! I will share sneak peeks along the way and I will always be grateful for your patience.

Once I’ve ordered your products, it will take approximately 2-3 weeks for delivery.

Q | That all sounds awesome and we’d love for you to photograph our family – so what next?

A | If you haven’t already, please feel free to contact me {link to contact page} or phone me on 0433 469 459.
If you have already sent through an enquiry – thank you! Stay tuned, I’ll be in touch asap to discuss your session further.

I can’t wait to capture your beautiful memories x
